In Esoteric Buddhism, a mandala is used to express Buddhahood or the truth of the universe by systematically laying out images of Buddha and Bodhisattva in a diagram.
This mandala of the Adamantine Realm, which is in the possession of Daikoin Temple in Shibata town, was originally mounted in 1385, as written on the backside of the scroll, and repaired twice later in 1502 and 1734.

Under the auspices of Masamune Date of the Sendai domain, one of the most powerful feudal lords in the Edo period (the 17th to 19th century ).
Zuiganji Temple is located in Matsushima, one of the three most scenic spots in Japan. It was founded by Jikaku, a high priest in 828, and is one of famous temples in Japan. Construction of Zuiganji Temple’s buildings was started in 1609 under the auspices of Masamune Date. Its main building and cloister are designated as national treasures. In the treasure house on the temple premises, old documents associated with the Date clan and "Unpan," a designated national treasure, are on display. Unpan is a Buddhist instrument used by monks to announce the time for meals to the public. It was cast by the 10th superintendent, Minki, in 1326, and is the second oldest instrument of this kind in existence.
