Management of Wastes
While trying to properly dispose of wastes based on the laws and regulations on wastes, Tohoku EPCo makes active efforts to reduce wastes and promote effective use of wastes, and maintain an effective use rate at 90% or higher for four consecutive years in a row.
From now on, the Company Group as a whole will promote the reduction of wastes to be produced, and reuse and recycling of wastes in an effort to further reduce wastes and promote effective use of wastes.

Reinforcement of Management Based on Waste Management System
Tohoku EPCo introduced a waste management system in FY2003, aiming at reinforcing and improving its waste management, and has been promoting the introduction of this system in its offices and establishments since FY2004 for further reinforcement of waste management.
3R Waste Measures Studied by Group Companies
Tohoku EPCo Group has formed the Study Group on 3R Waste Measures, and has been studying and promoting 3R waste measures that achieve the compatibility between the economics (reduction in cost of waste disposal) and environmental preservation (reduction in adverse effects on environment). In June 2006, we came up with the "Guideline of Tohoku EPCo Group on Proper Disposal of Wastes," and we try to improve our corporate value through a series of efforts to fulfill CSR, while ensuring proper disposal of wastes.
We also studied and operated on a trial basis new measures to dispose of individual types of wastes such as "waste oil," "waste glass," etc., and obtained satisfactory results. From now on, we will make studies to promote horizontal development of such new measures.
