![]() Tohoku Electric Power News (2005 Spring Issue) One-point advice on energy-saving and support information on environmental learning for the next generation groups are published on "Tohoku EPCo News" which is quarterly distributed to all customers within our service areas. |
On our Company's website, the environmental action report is presented in the "Efforts for Environmental Problems" while detailed information such as on "Tohoku Green Foundation" and "Green Procurement Information" are provided.
In FY2004, there were about 240,000 accesses to the site, higher than in the previous fiscal year and 270 inquiries and requests. We are doing our best to promptly and respectfully answer to these inquiries.

As an action that one can easily take in daily life to prevent global warming, we publish the "Environmental Recipe for the Earth (Environmental Household Account)" on our website, which introduces how to calculate CO2 emissions released from individual families as well as how to cleverly use electric home appliances to reduce CO2 emissions.

Sendai Customer Services Office has, since FY2004, provided "Eco & Energy Workshop" for college students who will bear the future society on their shoulders.
This activity's intention is to provide the college students in the Sendai area, the largest consumer area in our service coverage, with the chance to understand environment and energy as a more familiar issue and encourage them to take concrete actions.
This workshop, which has entered second year, started in December 2004. On the main theme of "Let's start for tomorrow," 16 students from six colleges worked on the study, the collection of materials, and the development of the scenarios about the relationship between life and energy and its history in consideration of global environmental problems by setting the six small themes; "self-sufficiency rates in the energy supply and food supply," "energy-saving of electric home appliances," "separation and recycling of garbage," "purchasing of green," "environmental education," and "energy tales of the past and present."
In June 2005, we sponsored an event as a forum for presenting the achievements of this half-a-year workshop, where about 140 college students gathered and thought over the importance of the environment and energy with other college students of the same generation through the stage talk (presentation) and the table talk (exchange and dialogue with the college student participants).
Opening of "Nature Juku and Exchange Juku (Private-tutoring school) in Riverhead Forest" |
In October 2004, "Nature Juku and Exchange Juku in Riverhead Forest" was held in "Tohoku EPCo Riverhead Forest*" (located in Tadami-machi in Fukushima prefecture)
Hoping that many people will become aware of the charms and importance of nature, we have, since 2001, held the exchange events in "Tohoku EPCo Riverhead Forest" every year.
This year, the event in its fourth time was held with the cooperation of the executive committee consisting of the local residents under the title of "Nature Juku and Exchange Juku in Riverhead Forest" where the elementary school students in Fukushima prefecture experienced the nature observation, the creation of objet d'art using thinned wood of chestnut, and the local performing art with the local residents.
