Environmental Activities in Close Cooperation with Local Communities

We attach importance to giving serious thought to environmental issues and taking action in close cooperation with local communities through environmental communications in routine work and on such occasions and events as well as actively engaging ourselves in environmental activities as a member of local communities.

Therefore, we are intended to put opinions and requests from local communities to practical application leading to the next step for the purpose of improving our environmental activities and publicize our efforts toward environmental issues and the status of our activities in various media and on our official website.

We have sponsored the "Delivery Energy Lecture" program, in which each of the offices and establishments conducts lectures on environment-related topics at elementary and junior high schools in local communities with a view to helping students take an interest in energy and environmental issues. In addition, we have conducted tree-planting and afforestation projects, resources recycling activities, public lectures on environmental issues, etc.

The number of events and activities conducted by the offices and establishments as part of the Environmental Awareness Month campaign in FY2004 came up to about 320 with about 25,000 participants from local communities.
