Calculations in Environmental Accounting (1)

Environmental accounting is a mechanism to quantitatively determine and assess costs generated by executing environmental preservation and effects obtained as the result of environmental preservation efforts.

We are committed to comprehending and improving our environmental accounting for the purpose of carrying out environmental management designed to achieve environmental preservation and economical efficiency in a constant manner.

For the fiscal 2004 environmental accounting, we aggregated and calculated, to the largest possible, the classified total of costs attributed to environmental preservation and effects obtained as a result by complying with the "Environmental Accounting Guideline" issued by the Ministry of the Environment to improve the accuracy of calculations.

We acknowledge that there still are many shortcomings in the calculations. However, we have decided to continuously study ways to improve the accuracy of calculations and seek effective use of the environmental accounting as a practical tool of the environmental management.
