Eco-Point Activity program

The Energy Talk-in Society in Kesen-numa Area, in which our Kesen-numa Customer Services Office participates, initiated a community program called the "Eco-Point Activity" in 2003 to raise citizens' environmental awareness. In terms of fashion, the program is one of the most unique of the kind in the nation. Under the program, the society hands out "Eco-Point Cards" to all citizens who have participated in any of environmental preservation activities and stamps the card every time the citizens takes part in such an activity as a proof of involvement. When the citizens collects a certain number of stamps on the card, the person is entitled to discounts in proportion to the number of stamps at local shops that cooperate with the program or the society would introduce the citizens to a local newspaper.

The program received an "Environmental Minister's Commendation for Activities to Prevent Global Warming" in November 2004.
