Effort for Effective Use of All Reusable Resources

We have actively engaged ourselves in reducing waste and promoting the effective use of waste, and as a result, the effective use rate came up to 90.4% of the overall wastes in FY2004, maintaining the figure at 90% or more for three consecutive years.

Efforts for Promotion of Effective Use of Waste Plastics

Plastic Nekase underbracing block

In a joint project with Tohoku Pole Co., Ltd., one of our Group Companies, we developed a type of "plastic underbracing block (Plastic Nekase)" for preventing distribution poles from falling down or inclining. The block is made from plastic recycled from waste plastics such as removed insulation cover for distribution lines and meter cases. We have decided to use the device from FY2005. Thanks to this development, we are now able to recycle nearly the entire amount of waste plastics originated from power distribution engineering work.
