Environmental Communications

Environmental Activities: Collaboration with the Regional Community

TohokuEPCO works together with the community to promote environmental activities, including tree planting, volunteer environmental cleanup efforts and resource recycling, and to strengthen relations of mutual trust with the community. In FY 2002, nearly 220 environmental programs with 14,000 participants were carried out in June, which is officially designated as Environmental Awareness Month.
Sukagawa Customer Service Office and Sukagawa Engineering Center hold a resource-recycling festival every year in collaboration with the local federation of UNESCO.The festival in which they collect aluminum cans and hold a charity bazaar was recognized by the Three Rs Promotion Conference.

Programs to Support Children's Environmental Education

TohokuEPCO has developed multimedia software for practical application in the environmental education curriculum of elementary and junior high schools. To promote further interest and understanding concerning environmental issues, our thermal power stations and customer service offices organize environmental education programs based around hands-on experiences for the students.
